Beware the Bumbo

Yesterday afternoon a very scary thing happened. Alia fell out of her Bumbo Babyseat (see photo). I was under the impression that this was a very unlikely occurence, and we had been seating her on raised level surfaces thinking she couldn't get out. Thankfully she was just on the floor, but as she was on a tiled surface she still could have hurt herself. I checked the Bumbo web site and at the very bottom of the page it says:
SAFETY FIRST
Never leave your baby unattended. Never use on a raised or
uneven surface, as a car seat, in a bath or in other water.
BumboTM is happiest on the floor.
Do not use until your baby is fully able to support its head.

I am disappointed in myself for not being more careful, but I also think that the description and concept of the product is misleading. I wonder how many other people will make the same mistake as I did and not keep a hand near their babies at all times when they are in the Bumbo. Realistically, if the seat is "happiest" on the floor, but a baby can still fall out and hit their head, is this product really safe?
